Description

If you've worked any number of live events, you know: five metres is the length that makes sense. Not too short, not too long. It covers the gap between the house power distribution and your gear without creating a coil of cable you're going to trip over.

The touring reality: You're on a medium-sized stage. House power is at stage left. Your mixing console, amps, and monitors are spread across the stage. You need power to reach from the distro to your FOH position, with enough length to accommodate different stage layouts night-to-night. The 5m cable with piggy back plug is designed exactly for this scenario.

Why venues trust the 5m: From small theatres to medium hotel ballrooms, from club stages to touring band setups, 5 metres is the standard. It's what your crew expects to grab when they're starting production load-in. It's what installers spec for medium-sized AV systems when they need proper separation between power source and equipment.

Rated for 10A at 240V with SAA certification and 2.4kW maximum load, the 5m cable handles your powered PA, mixing consoles, wireless systems, and lighting control rigs. The piggy back plug design is crucial in touring scenarios. When you're sharing stage power with multiple departments, being able to chain cables into a single outlet prevents the hunt for extra circuits. Built with 3-core 1.5mm² 99.99% oxygen-free copper conductors, and every batch is electrically tested at the factory before dispatch.

The 8mm cable diameter is heavy enough to resist kinking during repeated packing and unpacking, yet flexible enough to coil neatly for transport.

Every major touring production company in Australia keeps these in stock. Sydney Opera House, Fox Sports broadcast trucks, touring theatre companies. They all know the 5m cable is the workhorse that gets the job done across venues and setups.

After: Load-in is faster. Your power runs are professional. You're ready to go night after night.

FAQs

Is 5m the standard length for touring AV setups?

It's the most commonly used length across touring production companies in Australia. Five metres bridges the gap between house power distribution and your equipment position in the majority of small to medium venues. Most sound and lighting techs carry 5m IEC cables as their default.

Will there be any voltage drop over 5 metres?

No measurable voltage drop at this length. The 3-core 1.5mm² 99.99% oxygen-free copper conductors have very low resistance. At 10A over 5 metres, the voltage drop is negligible. Your equipment receives stable, clean power across the full run.

Can I use this cable outdoors for a one-off event?

The cable is rated for -20°C to +70°C operating temperature and handles outdoor conditions. For temporary outdoor events, it performs well. It's not IP-rated for permanent outdoor exposure to rain or direct weather, but for event use where cables are deployed and packed up, it's standard kit across festivals and outdoor setups Australia-wide.

How many devices can I daisy-chain through the piggy back plug?

The piggy back plug provides one additional outlet on the back of the plug. You can chain multiple cables together, but the total current draw across all connected devices must stay under 10A (2.4kW). For most AV equipment, two to three devices on a single chain is typical. If you're running high-draw gear, check individual device ratings first.
