Titan AV Rivets & Washers

Building a case from scratch or replacing old hardware? These 5mm road case rivets are built to grip and stay locked, even under vibration and load. Each rivet comes with a washer to boost strength and stop pull-through—ideal for mounting handles, corners, braces, and extrusions.

  • Choose your fit – Available in 16mm or 18mm lengths, suited to common case builds.
  • Washer included – For better surface pressure and stronger holds.
  • Finish the look – Pick from black (for powder-coated stealth builds) or silver (for aluminium hardware).
  • Built tough – Steel shaft, secure grip range, and reliable pop-rivet design.

Whether you’re building a DJ case, fixing a flight case, or spec'ing out a full touring rig, Titan AV rivets are pro-grade and road-ready.

🔧 Quick Tip: Understanding Grip Range

Grip range is the total material thickness your rivet needs to clamp—think of it as the combined thickness of everything the rivet’s going through. For road cases, that usually means:

  • Plywood panel (often 9mm or 12mm)
  • Aluminium extrusion (typically around 2–3mm)

Here’s how to calculate it:
Just add the thickness of your ply and the extrusion together.

📌 Example: 9mm ply + 3mm extrusion = 12mm total grip range

In this case, you’ll want to use an 18mm rivet, which is designed to grip materials between 11–13mm. If your total thickness is only 10mm, go for the 16mm rivet instead.

Choosing the right grip range means:
✔ A tighter hold
✔ No loose joins
✔ No crushed ply
✔ Longer hardware life

People also ask

What size rivet should I use?

Choose your rivet based on grip range—the total thickness of the materials you’re joining (usually plywood + extrusion).

  • 16mm rivets grip 9–11mm
  • 18mm rivets grip 11–13mm

📌 Example: 9mm ply + 3mm extrusion = 12mm → use an 18mm rivet. Measuring first = tighter hold, no crushed ply, no loose hardware.

Why use a washer with a rivet?

A washer spreads the load and helps prevent your hardware from tearing through under stress—especially on high-impact points like handles and corners.

What does “grip range” mean?

Grip range is the total material thickness a rivet is designed to clamp securely—usually your plywood plus the aluminium extrusion. If the grip range is too short, the rivet won’t hold tight. Too long, and the rivet may crush the panel or not set properly.

📏 For example: If your case wall is 9mm ply + 3mm extrusion = 12mm total, you need a rivet with an 11–13mm grip range—like our 18mm rivet.

Choosing the right grip range = a cleaner install, stronger hold, and no loose hardware down the track.

Are these pop rivets?

Yes—these are 5mm pop rivets, the same type used in professional road case builds. Because they include a washer, you’ll need to hold that washer in place from the back during install—so make sure you can access both sides.

Which finish should I choose?

Black rivets blend with powder-coated cases—great for DJ gear, stealth setups, or matching black hardware. Silver rivets pair well with aluminium edges and classic builds.

What size drill bit should I use for 5mm rivets?

Before using a rivet gun, you’ll need to drill a hole for the rivet to pass through. For our 5mm rivets, we recommend using a 5mm to 5.2mm drill bit. This gives a snug fit that’s easy to insert without compromising grip strength.

Do I need a special tool to install them?

Yes—you’ll need two tools:

  1. A drill with a 5–5.2mm drill bit to make the hole
  2. A manual or pneumatic rivet gun to set the rivet

Once drilled, just insert the rivet and washer, then squeeze with the rivet gun until it sets. That’s it—clean, secure, and built to last.
