Rack Mount PDUs for AV, IT, and Server Installs

A power board tucked behind a rack might work for a day. For a permanent install, a touring rig, or any setup where reliability matters, a proper rack mount PDU is the right call.

Titan AV's range of 19" rack PDUs are Australian-designed for Australian conditions. Every outlet is a standard 240V 3-pin — no IEC adapters, no workarounds. Overload protection is built into every unit in the range, cutting power to the rack before a spike reaches your equipment. A power indicator light on each unit confirms the feed is live at a glance.

The 1RU 6 Way PDU is the compact choice: six outlets, one rack unit, and a 0.9kg footprint that suits touring rigs and tight installs alike. The 2RU 12 Way PDU doubles the outlet count to 12 for larger equipment spreads, keeping the whole rig on a single feed. The 1RU PDU with USB and USB-C goes one further, adding device charging to the same 1RU frame — useful for corporate and conference room installs where powering a tablet or controller from the rack is part of the brief.

All units are built from powder-coated aluminium, rated at 10 Amp, and ship with rack hardware included.

People also ask

What is a PDU?

A PDU (Power Distribution Unit) distributes mains power from a single input to multiple outlets across your rack. In an AV or IT rack, it replaces loose power strips with a clean, rack-mounted solution that fits your 19" bay. Titan AV PDUs use standard Australian 3-pin outlets and are rated at 10 Amp.

Do Titan AV PDUs have surge protection?

No. Titan AV PDUs have overload protection, which trips the unit when the combined current draw exceeds 10 Amp. This protects your connected equipment from overload events. Surge protection (the absorption of voltage spikes from the mains) is a separate feature not included in this range. If you need surge protection, fit it upstream of the PDU.

What's the difference between the 6 Way and 12 Way PDU?

The 6 Way PDU is 1RU with six 240V outlets — the compact choice for smaller rigs or installs where space is tight. The 12 Port PDU is 2RU with twelve 240V outlets, suited to larger setups where running two 6-way units would otherwise be needed. Both include overload protection and ship with rack hardware.

How does a Power Distribution Unit work?

A Power Distribution Unit (PDU) works by receiving power from a main power source and distributing it to multiple outlets, allowing multiple devices to be powered from a single power source. It typically includes features such as surge protection, overload protection, and monitoring capabilities to ensure safe and efficient power distribution.

How to install a PDU in a rack?

Installing a PDU in a rack is a relatively straightforward process. Begin by selecting an appropriate mounting location within the rack, ensuring proper alignment and clearance. Secure the PDU to the rack using the included mounting hardware (Cage Nuts & Screws), making sure to follow manufacturer instructions. Finally, connect the PDU to the main power source and plug in the devices you wish to power.

What types of Power Distribution Units do Titan AV offer?

Titan AV offers a range of PDU designed to meet various power distribution needs. Our lineup includes both horizontal and vertical mounting options, with 1RU and 2RU configurations available. Additionally, we provide PDU with surge protection and a maximum input current of 10 Amps, ensuring reliable performance for your critical systems.
